What to Watch on Netflix Right Now

With everyone stuck inside as the world goes into lockdown more people are turning to streaming services such as Netflix than ever before. So we have picked out five Netflix Originals that have to be on your list to watch.

1. Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness

This new series has undoubtedly captured the attention of people everywhere. The story of how Joe Exotic, the owner of the largest private zoo in the USA, battles with activists to protect his zoo at all costs. The 8-part series has got everyone talking and is a must watch for everyone right now. Make up your own mind on who was in the wrong and answer the question everyone is thinking… Did Carole Baskin feed her husband to the lions?

2. Sex Education

Now in its second season, Sex Education is one of my favourite series on Netflix. The cast of sexually frustrated high school students who are going through the school system learning about their sexuality provides a light-hearted yet accurate interpretation of many young adults and has had people everywhere glued to their screens. The main character Otis lives with his Mum, Jean Milburn, who just happens to be a sex therapist and follows his journey of sexual discovery. The series covers many of the hot topics right now such as sexuality and STI’s and is sure to have you addicted and binge watching both seasons during lockdown.

3. Explained

Explained is a Netflix original series of short documentaries on a range of fascinating topics that explores the science behind different subjects including ‘the future of meat’, ‘the next pandemic’ and ‘can we live forever?’.

If you’re like me and enjoy looking at conspiracy theories and the deeper meaning of things, then this series is for you. They can be great fun to watch with friends or family and topics such as the one on extra-terrestrial life are sure to get people talking. There are also two other parallel series called ‘The Mind Explained’ and ‘Sex Explained’ which explore other subjects answering all those burning questions we have!

4. Formula 1: Drive to Survive

Here’s one for the motorsport fans amongst us or anyone who wants to see the behind the scenes of the cutthroat world that is Formula One racing. The series, now in its second season, follows the lives on some of the top drivers and team directors in F1 in a behind the scenes documentary showing just how intense the pressure is on these athletes to perform as sponsors pile on pressure and expect results in return for their huge investments. Netflix gets an exclusive view at one the most expensive sports in the world and the 30-40-minute episode will have you hooked.

I found myself desperate to watch the next episode as you want to find out what happens next, so lockdown is the perfect time to sit and watch this series as we dream of better time when sporting events resume and life returns to normal.

5. Love is Blind

A series like no other, this show will have you cringing at your screen but also laughing hysterically as you watch a group of single men and women enter pods where they date each other and only meet once they commit to getting married. Prior to walking down the aisle the couples have 6 weeks to experience traveling together and living together. The show is filled with twists and turns the whole way through which will have you gripped all the way through.

Everyone is talking about it but until you’ve seen it you don’t know what you’re missing so be sure to check it out if you haven’t already.
